About Mark
Just As A Bridge Connects Two Bodies of Land, Mark Darfler Connects His Clients to Success.
As anyone who lives in the Bay Area knows, bridges are built in a variety of ways, shapes and forms. There are the majestic superstructures of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges that connect San Francisco to the East and North Bays. Then there are the humble, low-slung San Mateo and Richmond/San Rafael Bridges with the characteristic sagging midsections. As different as these bridges all are, they share one common characteristic: they serve as vital connections between people and communities.
It’s no surprise, then, that Mark Darfler has an affinity for bridges. As a businessman he’s crossed them in locations as exotic Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore – all while in the process of building bridges between different industries and cultures. This gifted professional has made it his life work to build bridges and connect with people – finding the common ground to forge successful working relationships with them.
A Connection With His Community
For Mark, much of that connection revolves around making a positive difference in the lives of others, both locally and globally. In the past he’s donated PCs and established computer labs in local schools. He’s also a member of the Surfrider Foundation. And as an enthusiastic resident of Lafayette, he’s active in the Chamber of Commerce and Lafayette’s Art & Science Foundation. “When you contribute to your community, you really forge a connection to all your fellow residents,” he says, “whether that community is in the town you live in or the world at large. You’re connecting with people in a meaningful way.”
Professionally Adept
The son of an Air Force officer, by the time he was fifteen, Mark had lived all over the U.S. as well as Japan. He learned to quickly adapt to each new environment, making friends and connecting with the community. After receiving his degree in Business Administration from U.C. Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, Mark embarked on a successful tenure in the computer sales and newly emerging LAN technology before establishing his own business brokering computer inventory in the US and Asia – skillfully building bridges between each culture’s technology.
Personal Connections
An avid outdoorsman who enjoys surfing and snowboarding, when he’s not busy helping his clients, Mark spends as much time as possible on the many beautiful walking, hiking and biking trails in the Walnut Creek/Lafayette area. Of all the places he’s lived or visited, Mark is quick to tell you that he settled here for the exceptional quality of life.
